Applied Solar, a solar roofing solutions developer out in California, was looking to quickly increase the traffic to their website for a 90-day marketing initiative aimed at Southern California. Expansion Media saw an opportunity to boost site traffic through the execution of an aggressive, geo-focused Search Engine Marketing (SEM) campaign.

Despite the high cost of the keywords being targeted for this campaign, Expansion Media was able to stay well under the allocated budget, enough so that new words could be incorporated into the focus of this SEM effort.

In the first 25 days, the Applied Solar banner ad appeared 74,743 times in online searches conducted by California residents resulting in a 42% increase in traffic with 58% of those visitors coming from the targeted counties in Southern California.

While the SEM was underway for this 90-day marketing initiative, Expansion Media also began a targeted strategic blogging campaign to drive traffic to the website from local blogs and forums in San Diego.

Expansion Media's web marketing and communications teams began interacting with relevant area blogs. During the same 25 day initiation period, the blog postings were seen a total of 329 times, sending continued traffic to the website and contributing to the previously mentioned percentage increase.
